Dear Colleague:
The theme of this year's Minnesota Economics Association (MEA) conference is "Energy and Environmental Economics." The morning sessions will feature presentations on biofuels policy, production and pricing. Ford Runge and Steve Polasky, both from the University of Minnesota, Department of Applied Economics, will discuss biofuel policy and production, followed by Chad Hart, Iowa State University, and Sarah West, Macalester College, who will discuss the economics of biofuels and gasoline.
During lunch, Elizabeth Wilson, University of Minnesota, Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, will look at environmental policy more broadly. This year's Hurwicz Distinguished Lecturer, John Ledyard, California Institute of Technology, will conclude the day's discussion from a microeconomic perspective.
I am looking forward to this timely and interesting mix of topics, and I hope you will be able to attend.
The 2007 MEA annual conference will be held on Friday, October 26, at John B. Davis Hall, Macalester College, in St. Paul (corner of Snelling Ave. and Grand Ave.). Registration and a continental breakfast begin at 9:00 a.m.
Please complete and send the registration form with your payment.
Sincerely,
Stephen V. Burks
