First Nations Development Institute (First Nations), a Colorado-based nonprofit organization that works to promote the long-term vitality of Native communities, has released a comprehensive financial investment curriculum for Native families. Building Native Communities: Investing for the Future is designed to teach the principles and skills of financial investing in an accessible, culturally focused way. It explores topics such as asset allocation, investment options, diversification, risk reduction and inflation. The contents are organized as an interactive workbook that can be easily adapted for use in financial education courses or workshops.
Free copies of the curriculum can be downloaded or ordered from the First Nations Web site at www.firstnations.org.
