One of the Minneapolis Fed's congressionally mandated
responsibilities is to gather information on the Ninth District economy.
The fedgazette is published bimonthly to share that information
with the district, which includes Montana, North and South Dakota, Minnesota,
northwestern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
The opinions expressed in the fedgazette
are expressly those of the authors or of attributed sources and are not
intended to represent a formal position of this bank or the Federal Reserve
