Fixed or Floating — What exchange rate system
should central banks adopt?
For the eighth consecutive year the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis
sponsored an essay contest for Ninth
District high school juniors and seniors and U.S. students in
foreign countries.
The essay question—What exchange rate system should central
banks adopt?—was addressed by more than 125 students from
five district states.
Thirty contest finalists received a $100 U.S. savings bond, a
commemorative T-shirt and an awards certificate. In addition, the
first place winner was awarded an extra $400 savings bond and a
paid summer internship at the Minneapolis Fed, and the second place
winner, an extra $200 savings bond.
