Technology center to aid growth

Officials in the northwestern Minnesota town of Fosston originally thought they needed what so many other rural communities had—a business incubator. But they soon realized they were wrong. What they really needed was a technology center.

Business growth in the future depends on application of technology, city officials decided, both for existing companies and any new businesses. The Business Technology Center, which opened in December 1999, has 10 computer training sites that can be fitted to the needs of a particular business.
