Conversation with the Chairman Education Event

The Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis (and Helena Branch) invites you to join your colleagues from around the country for a unique opportunity to learn from Ben S. Bernanke, chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, and other economic experts on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010. Chairman Bernanke will address groups of educators via live teleconference. In addition, he will take questions from educators in the audience in the 12 Federal Reserve districts. After the conversation with the chairman, the Minneapolis Fed and others will conduct a series of educator-oriented seminars designed to improve instructors’ ability to educate their students on economics and the Federal Reserve System.

1:30 pm–2:30 pm Conversation with the Chairman—Live Teleconference or via webcast

2:45 pm–3:30 pm “Financial Literacy: What’s Needed, What Works, and How You Can Provide It.” This presentation will review fresh evidence on the key personal finance issues and knowledge gaps confronting young adults, effective methods for addressing these issues and gaps, and resources that teachers can use to implement effective lessons.
3:30 pm–4:30 pm Interactive Inflation Lesson Plan. This fun simulation works well in the classroom.
4:30 pm–5:30 pm Reception with hors d’oeuvres and refreshments
