Leroy West

Leroy West is president and CEO of Summit Academy OIC in North Minneapolis. Summit is an accredited, nonprofit vocational school that offers 20-week career training in construction, health care, and information technology at no cost. Students can also earn their GED through Summit’s 10-week course.

West was instrumental in the implementation of Summit’s youth division, the Northside STEM District, and the new virtual learning platform. He cultivates relationships with individuals and companies in the Twin Cities and beyond to streamline employment opportunities for graduates and donor contributions for the school’s continued expansion. He has led Summit’s most impactful initiatives, such as launching the IT program run inside Summit’s extension campus, establishing North Star Innovation Center, and developing partnerships with Atomic Data and U.S. Bank.

Prior to stepping into the role of CEO, West served the institution since 2003 as chief academic officer and chief operating officer. A graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato, West raised three sons in the Twin Cities and is passionate about creating opportunities to help people move up into the middle class.
