Occupational Licensing Dashboard

This dashboard displays data on occupational licensure and worker and occupation characteristics. The State Policies tab depicts the prevalence of licensure and other regulations across occupations, states, and time. A related tab, Federal Policies, lists 31 occupations that have federal-level licensure. The Workers tab displays a selection of worker and occupation characteristics. On either the State Policies or Workers tab, select an occupation from the drop-down menu to begin exploring. The map will then show the current status of regulation or selected metrics in that occupation. Graphs to the right of the dashboard provide additional detail of changes over time.

See About the Data for details on the dashboard’s data sources and methodology.

The dashboard and its accompanying content were revised on October 10, 2025.
