In both Minneapolis and Helena, the Minneapolis Fed provides financial services to depository institutions, including banks, credit unions, and savings and loans, much like the services that banks provide for their customers. These services include collecting checks, electronically transferring funds, and distributing and receiving cash and coin. That’s why all of the Federal Reserve district banks are often called “the bankers’ bank.”
Our Treasury Services department is unique within the Federal Reserve System by providing support for customers who purchase and redeem marketable U.S. Treasury securities and savings bonds in paperless electronic form through TreasuryDirect.
The Payment, Standards, and Outreach Group (PSOG) within the Bank works with national and international organizations, industry groups, and associations to make it safer and more efficient for consumers and businesses to make and accept payments.
