Andrea Raffo Senior Vice President and Director of Research

Andrea Raffo is senior vice president and director of research. In this role, he leads the activities of the Research Division in support of monetary policy deliberations of President Kashkari. Andrea also coordinates the academic research programming of the division.

His career with the Federal Reserve has spanned more than two decades. Andrea began as an economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. Before coming to Minneapolis, he spent 15 years working for the Board of Governors, where he served most recently as associate director of the International Finance Division.

Andrea received a B.A. and an M.Ec. from Bocconi University and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles. His research has centered on international economics, macroeconomics, and international finance, and his work has appeared in academic publications such as the American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics, the Journal of Monetary Economics, and the Journal of International Economics.

In 2017, former Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen presented Andrea with the Federal Reserve Board’s Special Achievement Award.
